The best way to overcome addictions is to assign them a job.
There is no such thing as good days or bad days. Some days are just better.
Why does everything that’s supposed to be bad make me feel so good?- Kanye West.
Believe it or not, you and everyone I know have a little good and evil in them. It's human nature, and I am no different. Here's another truth: heaven and hell are not a place but a state of mind. And people will judge you according to the why and how behind your decisions. Not just what you did or did not do.
For example, did you take action to pursue a gig out of fear of needing to pay the bills, or did you do it out of courage to make money doing something you love to do? Are you donating to a cause to "feel good" and get into the "good place," or are you, someone, actively involved in making a change?
While reflecting on the moments before your decision, your state of mind will tell you everything you need to know. One of the biggest reasons you continue to choose your weed/alcohol/Ice cream, etc., over all else, is that you turned your wants into self-deprecating needs over time.
