I would say that everyone is a producer no matter if you are working for someone, yourself or letting money work for you. Robert Kiyosaki explains this best in his book CASHFLOW quadrants.

There are four quadrants but there are key differences between each producer within the economic system.

E-Quadrant: are just employees (sometimes intrapreneurs) and simply know how to work a process. They do what they are told and don’t think too hard about it. They are not involved in the value chain of the company profits and they are paid in wages rather than equity.

S-quadrant: create their own process that many times decreases businesses expenses so they make more than those in the “E” Quadrant. Essentially they became specialist and created solo or small businesses to provide unique value by using their skills in unconventional ways.

B-quadrant: instead of doing what they are told (E-quadrant) and creating their own process (S-quadrant) they created multiple processes that work together as a system. Leaving them to only focus on the business deals and leaving the actual production work to staff.

I-Quadrant: most people want to become investors but the best investors is and will always be those who have successful experience in all of the three quadrants mentioned previously. This experience allows them to make sound decision that the average person (E-quadrant) would never think of.

Everyone can get rich from each of these quadrants but you have to know yourself well enough to know what quadrant fits you best. Perhaps there is a need to gain experience in all four quadrants to better understand this concept but everyone is a producer but the expenses and negligence for them within each quadrant determines how many tax breaks and loopholes you can take advantage of.

Overall there are four types of producers with different levels of responsibility and as the responsibility increase there are more opportunities for tax advantages. So you are right in the sense that giver get more rewards.
