I agree but many times, especially as a unpaid intern, you can end up in situations where you are doing free work and still aren’t learning anything valuable enough that you couldn’t do on your own. I used to be convinced that mentors could save day but everything is context and it’s always up to you to prioritize your progress as no one else will do it for you. So there’s my silver lining but great article that reminds me to be an opportunist at times.
