You’ve heard the terms billionaire and millionaire, but there’s a new player in town who has half the cash and apparently, double the stress; they are called the H.E.N.R.Y’s (high-income-not-yet-rich). The Acronym was invented in 2003 to describe six-figure earners living in their 30s who struggle to balance their spending and saving habits.

The middle class believes money is about status.

As a younger millennial (born in 1996), I came from a middle-class family. Going to college met many things: dorms, frat parties, girls, Registered student organizations, Internships, and life-long friendships. Like many students, my eyes were set on finding something I loved majoring in and somehow landing a six-figure career a few years after graduation.

But most college grads did not make six figures after graduation. Not even half could find an entry-level job in their field of study, and median earnings for recent grads are lower today than in 1990.
