Having extra money does make it easier to avoid perfectionism while at work. Without it, employer can (and will) exploit you to work harder for them by gaslighting you.

Normally employers of this kind will dictate that you are not working hard enough just because they see you have no place, or car, or low bank account balance etc. even though you put in just as much work as anyone else.

This is why the concept of F*ck you money came about. To no longer have to deal with company politics and to do things on your own terms.
